1st Annual Bamboo Festival and Conference, Starseed Gardens, Byron Bay, NSW, Australia, 25-27th September 2009.

Bamboo, due to its title as the ‘fastest growing plant on earth’,  is one of the few plants that can keep up with human growth and demand for fuel, food and fibre. The many vital and non vital functions that bamboo serves, supports the increasingly important growth of the local living economies of villages, towns and even cities. Combining strength and flexibility, EI is constructing bamboo bridges connecting ancient bamboo wisdom with present modern technology to dream future eco solutions that don’t cost the earth.

Bamboo Earth’s  colourful community celebration will include art and performances, media, workshops and demonstrations in bamboo forestry, bio-building materials and construction, charcoal, and bamboo cuisine.  The event will feature high quality multimedia representation, transmitting from Byron Bay to the world.
